Western Spirit Ranches was created in 1999 by a handful of outdoor enthusiats who wanted to help bring back a fading tradition that has been an important part of an Idaho for the past hundred years. Idaho's pheasant population had been on the decline for over a decade and it was becoming more and more difficult to find landowners who were willing to allow hunting on their property. Several years ago the Idaho Fish and Game began granting shooting preserve licences which made it possible to release farm raised gamebirds on private property for the purpose of commercial hunting. They set the season from August 15th to April 15th. This was not only good for populating the area with Pheasant, Chukar, and Quail but allowed the general public the opportunity to hunt on private property eight months out of the year. There are no state sanctioned bag limits on shooting preserves and hunters can harvest both male and female birds. WSR has two shooting preserve locations loaded with hundreds of acres of natural habitat. The preserves are located in Fairfield and Shoshone, Idaho (see ranches). We release and hunt Pheasant, Chukar, and Quail eight months out of the year. Western Spirit also holds an Outfitters license from the Idaho Outfitters and Guides board which allows us to use licensed Guides for the hunters who want a guide and dog. We also raise, train, and hunt several breeds of pointers and guide predator hunts. For more information you can call the number below or send us an email.
